Cancellation & Refund Policy
In short: a 30% deposit confirms your trip and is not refundable, the balance is due 60 days before you travel, and the closer to departure you cancel the more of the cost we have already committed on your behalf. Permits and park fees paid to third parties can never be refunded.

Deposit and payment schedule
A deposit of 30% of the total trip cost confirms your booking. We use it immediately to hold camps, vehicles, guides and permits in your name, which is why it is not refundable.
The balance is due 60 days before departure. For bookings made within 60 days of departure, the full amount is due at confirmation.
If the balance is not paid by the due date and we have not agreed otherwise in writing, we may treat the booking as cancelled by you, and the schedule below applies.
If you cancel
Cancellations must be sent in writing to reservation@naraafricasafaris.com. The date we receive your written notice is the date we use.
| Notice given | Amount we retain |
|---|---|
| 60 days or more before departure | Deposit only (30%) |
| 59 to 30 days before departure | 50% of the total trip cost |
| 29 to 15 days before departure | 75% of the total trip cost |
| 14 days or fewer before departure | 100% of the total trip cost |
Anything we retain beyond the deposit reflects money already paid out on your behalf and not recoverable from the camps, parks and operators holding your places.
Costs that can never be refunded
Some costs are paid to government authorities and third parties who do not refund them under any circumstances, including to us. These are excluded from every refund calculation above, at any notice period:
- Gorilla and chimpanzee tracking permits
- Kilimanjaro park fees, camping fees and rescue fees
- National park and conservation area entry fees already lodged
- Domestic and international flight tickets once issued
- Visa and permit fees paid to any government
- Bank transfer and card processing charges
Changing a booking instead of cancelling
Where we can, we would rather move your trip than lose it. If you ask more than 60 days before departure, we will try to move your dates within the same season at no fee beyond any increase in supplier rates. Inside 60 days, a change is treated as a cancellation and rebooking under the schedule above, because your places have already been committed.
Reducing party size after confirmation may change the per-person rate, since our pricing depends on how many people share a vehicle and guide.
If we cancel
If we cancel your trip for any reason within our control, you may choose a full refund of everything you have paid us, or an alternative trip of equivalent value. That is the limit of our liability in those circumstances.
If circumstances outside anyone’s control make the trip impossible — civil unrest, natural disaster, epidemic, park closure, government restriction — we will refund whatever we can actually recover from the camps, parks and airlines involved, less costs already irretrievably spent. We will always show you the breakdown. Where a refund is not possible, we will offer a credit toward a future trip instead.
How refunds are paid
Refunds are paid to the account the original payment came from, in the currency it was paid, within 30 days of us agreeing the amount. Bank charges and any movement in exchange rates between payment and refund are not ours to absorb.
Travel insurance
Comprehensive travel insurance is a condition of travelling with us. It must cover cancellation, curtailment, medical treatment, emergency evacuation and repatriation. For Kilimanjaro climbs it must cover high-altitude trekking to the height you intend to reach. Most of what this policy cannot refund, a good insurance policy can.
