Who we are

Nara Africa is a family-owned travel company based at Block Jj 36&37, Mwanama Oloirien, Arusha, Tanzania. We operate this website and are responsible for the personal information described here. You can reach us about anything on this page at inquiry@naraafricasafaris.com.

What we collect, and when

We only collect information you give us, plus limited technical data. Specifically:

We do not ask for card or payment details on this website. Nothing on this site takes a payment — every booking and order is an enquiry that we confirm with you directly.

Our legal basis

Where the UK or EU General Data Protection Regulation applies to you, we rely on: performance of a contract for the information needed to quote and run your trip; consent for the newsletter and for analytics cookies, both of which you can withdraw at any time; and our legitimate interest in replying to enquiries and assessing collaborator applications.

Cookies and analytics

We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies and local storage entries to keep you signed in and to remember your cart between visits. These cannot be switched off without breaking the site, and they do not track you across other websites.

Analytics are different. We use Google Firebase Analytics to see which pages people find useful, and it only runs after you agree to it. If you decline, or ignore the banner, it never starts. You can change your mind at any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser, which brings the choice back.

Who else sees your information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for anyone else’s marketing. We do use a small number of service providers to run the site, and your information passes through them:

Google Firebase — hosts our database and manages sign-in, including Google sign-in if you use it, and provides analytics if you agree to it.
Netlify — hosts and serves this website.
Zoho Mail — our staff email, so anything you send us by email is stored there.
Resend — delivers the internal alert that tells our team a new enquiry, booking or order has arrived.
Anthropic — powers the AI travel assistant, where enabled. What you type into that chat is sent to Anthropic to generate a reply. Do not put sensitive personal details into it.
WhatsApp (Meta)— if you choose to continue a conversation on WhatsApp, that conversation is governed by WhatsApp’s own privacy terms, not ours.

We may also share information where the law requires it, or with the camps, lodges, guides and airlines needed to actually deliver a trip you have booked.

Where your information is held

We are based in Tanzania, and the providers above store data on servers outside Tanzania, including in the European Union and the United States. If you are in the UK or EU, this means your information is transferred outside your home jurisdiction. We rely on the standard contractual protections offered by each of those providers.

How long we keep it

Enquiries and contact messages are kept for up to two years, so we can pick up a conversation you started earlier. Booking and order records are kept for up to seven years, because tax and accounting rules require it. Collaborator applications are kept for up to two years unless you join the talent pool. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. You can ask us to delete any of this sooner.

Your rights

You can ask us at any time to:

tell you what information we hold about you, and give you a copy
correct anything that is wrong
delete your information
stop using it for a particular purpose, or restrict how we use it
withdraw a consent you previously gave, such as the newsletter

Email inquiry@naraafricasafaris.com and we will respond within 30 days. If you are in the UK or EU and think we have handled your information badly, you also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.

Children

This site is not aimed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. Children travel with us often, but their details reach us through the booking adult, not through the website.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes will be flagged on the site itself.
